New Elk Coal first annual Employee & Family BBQ! The unexpected rain made for a memorable afternoon, but didn’t deter us. We still enjoyed one another’s company, ate some delicious food and won some exciting prizes.

One Year Celebration

May of 2022 marks our One Year of Operations and being a part of the local community. We had the pleasure of inviting local elected officials and community leaders our to our mine site to celebrate this milestone.

Our guests learned about our operations from General Manager, Randy Wiles, watched a safety demonstration and went on a tour around the property to see it all in action. They enjoyed beautiful meat and cheese displays from Tidbits and Morsels and a sweet treat from Colie’s Bakery. We also always want to thank photographer, Mike Tranter, for capturing the afternoon celebrations.

No-Shave-November Contest

No-Shave November is a month-long campaign to raise awareness and funding for cancer prevention, research and education. In support of this cause, we host an internal campaign to raise funds that will be donated to a Colorado not-for-profit organization working towards raising awareness and treating cancer. Employees are encouraged to participate by putting down their razors, scissors and clippers and grow out their hair for cancer prevention for the entire month of November. Additionally, a ‘Best Mustache’ ‘Best Beard’ and ‘Biggest Transformation’ award are chosen among participating employees.

2021 First Annual New Elk No-Shave November Campaign

With over 50 employees participating, all of the proceeds raised were donated to Mt. San Rafael Hospital to assist in their construction of a local Chemotherapy Treatment Center.
